The Superintendent's Desk: Chris Wigent Comments

Wayne RESA is a regional educational service agency that provides a broad spectrum of services and support to Wayne County's 34 school districts and public school academies aimed at improving student achievement and maximizing economies of scale in staff development, purchasing, and administrative services.

Chris Wigent, Superintendent of Wayne RESA, is a lifelong educator. As a former high school teacher, assistant principal and principal, Chris was recognized for his vision and leadership and was invited to continue his career as a K-12 Superintendent. He has over 22 years of experience as a superintendent at the K-12 school district and Intermediate School District (ISD) levels. He began in the position of the Wayne RESA Superintendent over five years ago.

It was a re-energizing decision to come to Wayne County; I knew when I accepted the position that I would be able to have a positive impact on a significant number of children. Wayne RESA exists to provide quality educational leadership and services to our stakeholders and we have been doing a great job with this work for over 50 years!"

Wayne RESA is a leader in innovation including the technology tools that are necessary to support the necessary flexibility in the school day.

"Our Wayne RESA Vision Statement means we are committed to lifelong learning...for our students, teachers, administrators and for ourselves. In that spirit, we have begun a collaborative, departmental pilot program, using Social Media to reach out to our communities. We are learning from the private sector and employing a number of different methods to improve communication, while following and implementing the four Wayne RESA ‘Beliefs'."
