MISTAR Data and Assessment System Update
Wayne RESA’s MISTAR Data and Assessment system (Illuminate), along with a well-developed professional learning plan, will promote assessment literacy through the use of tools and resources to create, maintain and use quality data at all levels. MISTAR Data and Assessment is a web-based, easy to use system that streamlines the process of collecting student assessment data and reporting results in practical formats. The Data and Assessment module is part of the MISTAR Q system, which is maintained and supported through our Wayne RESA technology consortium. The vendor name for this tool is Illuminate Education, Inc.
Wayne RESA is committed to offering a full range of professional learning opportunities and support for the successful implementation of this data management tool. We recommend a model of support that builds district leadership around the technical use of the system through two introductory courses - Phase I and Phase II train-the-trainer sessions. In addition, the effective use of this tool will be embedded in professional learning around quality assessment practices, school improvement goals and content area connections. These offerings will take place throughout the year and registration will be available on our website:
To request in-district professional learning, please follow our process for requesting this service using a PD Request Form:
The MISTAR DnA implementation team at WRESA is currently reviewing data to make decisions about our 2017-2018 core services and support model designed for this system. Reports have been generated from usage statistics within each database. Furthermore, qualitative data has been requested through an electronic survey. This Google Form survey highlights five key areas of implementation with an opportunity to provide feedback in each category:
- District Infrastructure
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Balanced Assessment Systems
- Quality Assessments
- Data Management
- Extended Learning Opportunities
The data that we have collected will be used to support the users of this system in creating a District Implementation Plan. This spring, each district that uses the MISTAR Data and Assessment tool will be provided with an electronic planning template of the implementation plan which will be customized based on their district needs. This template will outline various areas of implementation and guide districts in creating a detailed plan for using this tool to promote teaching and learning. These plans will be our guide in developing ongoing and relevant services around MISTAR DnA as we continue to support this initiative.
