This Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Foundation Training has proven effective in resolving violent situations. By participating in this program, participants will gain the skills and confidence necessary to handle crisis situations in schools with minimal anxiety and maximum security. This training will help participants intervene more safely when student behavior becomes dangerous without damaging any professional bond already established with students. Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be CPI certified for a one-year period. Following this initial 2-day foundation training, a formal refresher CPI training is recommended annually.This is a HYBRID format course, Day 1 is completed in an asynchronous format and MUST be completed before attending Day 2 (In person).Please Note: Successful completion of this course addresses multiple required training components for Key Identified Personnel as described in the Michigan State Board of Education's Policy for the Emergency Use of Seclusion and Restraint.

Day 1:The University of Florida Literacy Institute Essential Background Knowledge training will provide educators with the necessary knowledge to support the development of foundational literacy skills. The session will provide an overview of research on reader development and principles of effective reading instruction and intervention. We then take a closer look at the key foundational reading skills UFLI Foundations addresses: phonemic awareness, alphabet knowledge, decoding, encoding, and oral reading fluency. The intended audience for this session includes teachers, interventionists, building leaders, central office staff, and literacy leaders. Lunch and coffee will be provided!Day 2:The University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) will deliver a comprehensive look at the UFLI Foundations explicit and systematic phonics program. This will include a brief overview of the program, review of essential background knowledge needed for implementation, as well as an overview of the manual and materials needed. Each lesson step will be covered in-depth with an opportunity to practice the newly learned strategies. Finally, there will be a brief overview to progress monitoring and differentiation. The intended audience for this session includes classroom teachers and interventionists. Navigating AI: Practices and Possibilities is a collaborative professional learning series designed to equip educators with the knowledge and tools to integrate artificial intelligence into their teaching practices effectively. Hosted by Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, this tri-county initiative includes three full-day, in-person learning sessions and three virtual sessions, providing a comprehensive and flexible approach to AI in education. Throughout the series, participants will explore AI tools, classroom guidelines, and ethical considerations, develop AI literacy aligned with ISTE Standards, and discover best practices for implementing AI across content areas using Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The series will culminate in a celebration of successes, showcasing innovative applications of AI in the classroom. This hands-on and discussion-driven series is designed to support educators at all levels of AI familiarity, empowering them to navigate the evolving landscape of AI with confidence and creativity.The series is designed as a yearlong hybrid experience, combining three full-day, in-person learning events with three 90-minute virtual sessions led by keynote speakers who will inspire new thinking and introduce emerging ideas. What is an ISD? Intermediate School District

ISDs — which sometimes go by the name Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) or Educational Service Agency (ESA) — work with local school districts, the Michigan Department of Education, business and industry and community groups.



Each ISD works with its local school districts to develop the mix of products and programs to maximize benefits for that area. ISDs increase cost savings for schools, expand educational opportunities, provide professional learning for teachers, and much more.
